ASOIAF Lannister Guardsmen - Test Model Completed

I recently finished up my first Lannister Guardsman. I used a speed painting method on him: base coat, wash, then a few highlights. He looks good considering the short amount of time I took.

Vallejo Game Color and Army Painter Paints

I used Vallejo Game color paints for everything except the wash and the metals. For those I used Army Painter. Their metals cover pretty well... no black undercoat was used here. They were painted right over the bright red undercoat with a single layer, which is pretty impressive. They look okay... but then the AP Strong Tone (on the gold) and AP Dark Tone (on the silver) do their work and smarten everything up. Any blotchiness is smoothed out and the recesses are darkened.

A few quick highlights later and the metals are done. Any time you can skip a step or two (no black undercoat and not having to coat the metal multiple times) on a large unit of figures saves time; that's speed painting!

Next up is painting the rest of them. One down, 23 more to go.
