Happy New Year 2015 - Miniature Painting Plans

Good morning and Happy New Year! 2014 was a tough one for me, with more time being out of commission as opposed to spending time with family, friends and hobbies. But I'm rapidly improving and I am hopeful that 2015 will bring lots of good times spent with a paintbrush in hand.

I have a few items on my list that I will be focusing in on:

  1. War of the Roses faces joint project - DONE
  2. Finishing the Perry Napoleonic French dipped regiment
  3. Moving forward on my Seven Years War Swiss regiment
  4. Knocking out the rest of my Winter War Soviets from WW2 (I just purchased and assembled two BT-7 tanks from Pegasus Models)
  5. My Genestealers in Space Hulk are almost done and the Terminators are next
  6. My 20mm WW2 Germans from AB Miniatures
  7. I'm also going to be playing more wargames this year, and I'm excited about that!

What are your goals for this year in our hobby? Will you finish that pesky half-painted unit that's been sitting undone? What about starting a new historical period? How about a new scale in a familiar conflict?

What about trying new techniques or styles of painting? Three layer Dallimore? Non-metallic metal? Pin washes? MIG pigments? Army Painter Quickshade? What about dabbling with a new line of paint? Can one get good results with inexpensive craft paints (I'm looking at you, Ceramcoat, FolkArt and Americana)? What about working with fewer paints and mixing more? Will you lower your quality to get more finished... or do you think that you can up your quality and still produce the same number of regiments?

Please comment below. I'm curious to hear where you are up to!

  2. Peter - I am on the cusp of making terrain. As soon as I finish my Winter War Soviets I'm going to make a small winter table so that my friend and I can play Chain of Command and Battlegroup: Blitzkrieg on it. Best of luck on your terrain and Saxons! - Jeff
