SYW Crusader & Front Rank Miniatures Compared

Here are photos of a Seven Years War Front Rank French Musketeer (on the left) and a Crusader Miniatures Prussian Musketeer (on the right) side-by-side for comparison.

You can see that there are a few differences between them. The Front Rank is just a little bit smaller from eye to eye compared to the Crusader figure. The thickness of the base has something to do with that. The belting on the FR miniature is more blended into the figure, whereas the Crusader soldier has it stand off from the figure more. The Front Rank face is less square compared to the Crusader miniature. Overall the Front Rank figure is less defined and less chunky than the Crusader miniature.

Both figures look very good and the differences aren't far enough apart that they couldn't be used together on the same battlefield. You might have to use some painting and basing tricks to fool the eye if you were to use them in the same regiment, however.

I should mention that Crusader gets bonus points for having different poses and faces for their infantry packs. Front Rank has a standard figure... if you want some variation you will need to employ trompe l'oeil painting techniques or get some green-stuff putty.
